Wander along the edge of the Everglades: dikes along the impoundments stretch 12 miles south to Hillsboro Area. Excellent birding, particularly in winter; watch for endangered Everglades snail kite. 0.6-mile Marsh Trail loops around impoundment C-7. Behind the visitor’s center, 0.6-mile Cypress Trail provides a boardwalk through cypress slough thick with bromeliads. Located off US 441 south of Boynton Beach Bouvelard.

Seacrest Scrub  (Sandra Friend)Seacrest Scrub Natural Area
Small parcel of sand pine scrub serves as preserve for gopher tortoises. 1 mile of trail loops through the scrub forest. Look for colorful scrub flowers all year long, including palafox and tarflower. Located on Seacrest Boulevard, south of Woolbright Road.
